Sean Casey
Managing Director, Arts & Culture
Sean Casey is a Managing Director at PAA Advisory | Conseils based in Ottawa where he leads the firm’s Arts & Culture practice group. He also has experience working with clients in the technology, transportation, health care, agriculture and sport sectors over the course of his two decades in public affairs. This includes an extensive background in dealing with intellectual property and copyright issues.
Over the past 15 years, Sean has established his practice group as the industry leader in assisting Canada’s cultural industries to advance their public policy agendas on regulatory, policy and funding issues. This has included providing government relations advice and assistance to clients in the film, television, music, publishing, performing arts and not-for-profit sectors. He has extensive experience examining and accessing funding programs available to organizations and working on complex issues within the Heritage, Industry, Finance, International Trade and Immigration portfolios.
Prior to entering the advisory business, Sean worked in federal and municipal politics, where he established a reputation of effectiveness working with three Members of Parliament, the Opposition House Leader and the Office of the Leader of the Opposition. He is recognized for having strong relationships across the political spectrum which has enabled him to advance initiatives on the strength of multi-party support.
Sean has a degree in Journalism from Carleton University and worked as a radio journalist earlier in his career. He has served of the executive of a number of amateur youth and adult sports organizations over the years and remains connected to the arts and culture community by providing pro-bono advocacy advice to sector organizations across the country.
