Andrew Bernardo is a defence expert with a deep understanding of Canada’s national security environment and the people who shape it. As Principal Advisor at PAA Advisory, he leads the firm’s Defence and Security Practice, helping clients navigate an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape.

Andrew joined PAA in 2025 following more than a decade in senior roles across the public and private sectors. He brings first-hand knowledge of how defence and security decisions are made in Canada, along with a strong network across government, industry, and allied partners. His work focuses on helping clients anticipate change, strengthen relationships with decision-makers, and align with Canada’s evolving defence priorities.

At PAA, Andrew advises organizations across sectors on strategic growth, public affairs, and reputation in a security-first world. He also leads efforts to expand the firm’s reach in the defence space, building new partnerships and identifying opportunities for collaboration in Canada and internationally.

In January 2024, Andrew was appointed to the Ontario Review Board as a Part-Time Public Member by the 30th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.

He lives in Ottawa and is passionate about ensuring Canada’s defence and security institutions are prepared for the challenges ahead.
