Andrew Bernardo Joins PAA

We are pleased to share that Andrew Bernardo is joining the PAA Advisory as Principal Advisor to lead our Defence and Security Practice. 

Andrew’s career spans nearly two decades, and has been a mainstay in the Defence and Security environment for fourteen years, providing strategic advice and crafting strategy for senior political and public service officials. He is a strategic public sector leader who leverages multi-sectoral policy, communications, media and stakeholder relations, as well as comprehensive management experience in fast-paced, high stakes environments. 

Andrew gained valuable political experience serving in various senior roles in support of Cabinet ministers, including as the Director of Strategic Policy to a Minister of Foreign Affairs, Director of Policy to a Minister of National Defence and Minister of Veterans Affairs, as well as various roles within the office of a Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. Most recently, he served as an executive within the Department of National Defence, a position he held for nearly nine years. Andrew has also gained valuable experience working in the healthcare sector where he served as the Director of Corporate Communications and Patient Relations at Southlake Regional Health Centre north of Toronto. 

Andrew brings valuable experience and insight into all lines of business within the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces, as well as the broader security environment. He maintains a vast network of key stakeholders across multiple public and private sectors, including federal/provincial/municipal governments, industry, media, industry and academia. 

In his role, Andrew will be leading client teams, providing strategic advice and guidance to clients based on thorough analysis of the defence and security environment. Andrew will also work to build strategic partnerships and identify new opportunities for growth and collaboration with defence clients in Canada and around the world.
