Research Advisor - Atlantic Provinces

PAA Advisory | Conseils is looking for a Research Advisor to support its public affairs and government relations team. The position is remote and based in the Atlantic Provinces. It is a great opportunity for candidates who are:

Responsibilities

  • Perform media monitoring, information gathering and public policy analysis related to the issues of the firm’s clients
  • Follow parliamentary activities and procedures, including question periods and committees or commissions
  • Undertake research and provide analysis on stakeholders, media coverage, government decision-makers and regulatory and legislative processes in various Canadian jurisdictions
  • Drafting presentation documents, position papers and communications documents for internal and external audiences
  • Drafting public policy reports that can be used as a basis for advising clients
  • Providing strategic advice to the firm’s clients on their public policy, regulatory, communications and reputation issues
  • Perform representation activities – including, but not limited to, lobbying – with designated public office holders, civil servants and stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain relationships with decision-makers and stakeholders by bringing value and substance to their deliberations and maintaining a reputation for personal integrity and trustworthy conduct
  • Translate various documents as needed

Required knowledge and skills

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in government relations, communication or stakeholder relations within a company, government, industry association, think tank or consulting firm
  • Knowledge of government systems and their decision-making processes, institutions and governance frameworks
  • Ability to present technical and complex information concisely and in written and/or oral format
  • Higher education degree in a relevant field such as political science, public policy, journalism, etc.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is essential
