Research Advisor

PAA Advisory | Conseils is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its team in Ottawa as a Research Advisor. This is a unique opportunity for someone with an interest in public policy, government relations, and/or advocacy across various sectors.

The Research Advisor position is suited for candidates at an earlier stage of their career, who bring a solid understanding of politics and policy and are eager to grow their expertise. This role involves working closely with Advisors, Client Directors, and Managing Directors to support clients in navigating Canada’s political and regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze regulatory developments, consultations, and government positions impacting various sectors
  • Research and prepare analysis on stakeholders, media coverage, and legislative processes.
  • Draft reports, briefings, and advocacy materials.
  • Support Advisors and senior team members in delivering political and policy insight.
  • Coordinate translation work and prepare communications content.

Qualifications

  • Eligible to work in Canada and register to lobby federally.
  • Strong interest in politics, public policy, and government decision-making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of politics or party politics and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to summarize Parliamentary committee activities concisely.
  • A bachelor’s degree in political science or a similar degree is an asset
